Pioneers and parades

Another 24th of July come and gone! It's fun living in Utah on the 24th of July, I love stories of the pioneers and the history that is imprinted here in Utah. In a couple of weeks my parents will be coming here to visit; along with them and my family, we will travel the 300 some odd miles to Martins Cove in Wyoming. We have reserved a handcart that the kids are so excited to pull. My mom called me the other day to tell me that there was a show on the BYU station that was telling the story of the handcart companies and thought that the kids would all like to watch, and so we all jumped on my bed and turned on the TV to watch it. They were all so excited that we were planning a road trip and that it involved camping and hiking and that we would be pulling a handcart! Jacob watched the show with wide eyes as pioneers pulled thier handcarts through piles of snow and mud. He then said, "I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT!!" Boy is this going to be a fun yet crazy road trip!

Anywho, an update on Jamie... Some of you know that he has been plagued with a hernia over the last two months. It has bothered him like crazy! On Wednesday he had it fixed! It was a very long day. His surgery was scheduled for 10:30 am and didn't happen until 4:30 pm!! He waited a very long time in a hospital gown! But needless to say he is doing okay. Still in a lot of pain, but walking around like an 80 year old man! The doctor said that he needs to be doing very little for about a week and a half! I'm going crazy because it's IMPOSSIBLE to keep that man down let alone try to prevent him from cleaning up or anything like that! I don't think it's in his nature to sit still for a few days! Heaven forbid that he gets to rest for a while! I am indeed grateful for the man that I married, and I will be even more grateful when he's healed completely!

I took the kids to the Days of 47 parade here in Ogden.

The boys were really just there for the candy! We didn't get there until right before it started so our seats weren't all that great, but it was fun to say the least!

I got a little choked up when the National Guard came by carrying this huge flag! I consider myself pretty patriotic so I get a little teary eyed when I see those who have fought for our freedom! My camera was low on batteries so I didn't get very many pictures! It was fun to see all the floats and to watch Abby wave to everyone that was waving! Chase loved the old cars that were in the parade and all the really cool floats!

Hi Gina! It's Tiffany, Delona's daugter. You'll have to let me know when u all drive thru Rock Springs to go to Martins Cove. We went last summer with my parents on the way to see Tyson in ND. It's a very peaceful place. We only stopped for a few minutes, but you could feel the spirit. Anyways, I'm on the way if you guys need a break from driving. Your family is welcome anytime here. Just get my # from my mom or sis. Love you all tons. It was nice to see you at the baby blessing. Your little ones are growing so big. Take care and ttyl

I have always wanted to make that trek! I hope it goes well for your family. That's so great that you're doing it.

I hope Jaime's recovery is speedy, and I hope you don't loose your sanity in the process!
